Expertise » Glycol Dehydration
Glycol Dehydration Glycol dehydration is a widely used system across oil & gas sector. Natural gas is saturated with water vapour under normal operating conditions due to which undesirable hydrates such as CH4.7H2O, C2H6.8H2O, C3H8.18H2O, etc. are formed with the components of natural gas which in turn deposit and build up on solid surfaces of the process equipments involved. This results in plugging of flow meters, valves and instrumentation leading to operational downtime and breakdown. Also, when acid gases are present even in trace quantities, presence of water in natural gas increases corrosivity. Condensation of water causes severe corrosion of pipelines. Tech Perfect offers precisely designed and meticulously engineered solution to this end with equipment supply, thereby delivering total solution. Several methods can be adopted for dehydrating natural gas such as, adsorption using solid desiccants and absorption using liquid desiccants amongst which glycol dehydration is preferred because of:
Glycol dehydration involves absorption of water from natural gas under high pressure and low temperature. Natural gas is contacted with Tri-Ethylene-Glycol (TEG) in a contactor. Based on dew point depression requirement, the lean feed to contactor is about 98.5(wt %) to 99.9(wt %) TEG from top and rich TEG leaves from the bottom. The absorption operation is liquid-film controlled due to the high viscosity of TEG. The rich TEG from the bottom of contactor is heated in a glycol-glycol heat exchanger before it is flashed in a flash drum to remove volatile components. The glycol is regenerated in a regenerating column and for high purity requirements of TEG (for lower dew points of natural gas); TEG is stripped with a portion of the dehydrated gas. Efficient performance of the process system can be achieved by equipment supply that Tech Perfect offers which essentially involves; For Contactor: Structured packing with associated column internals including Trough / Channel versions of Liquid distributors, Chimney tray Liquid collectors, Packing supports, Vane Type Inlet device, Mist eliminators, Vortex breakers, etc. For Regenerator & Stripper: Random packing with associated column internals including Pan / Channel versions of Liquid distributors, Bed limiters, Multibeam Supports etc. And other process equipments, all matching application aptness and clients specific requirements |
